Parent comments about Wattle Gum Homeschool
Hi Erin! I just wanted to send you a quick message to say how much I love and appreciate the Foundation Curriculum you put together! I absolutely love it and feel so incredibly grateful for it! We have most of the term 1 books from the library and are working our way through all of the books. The girls have been really enjoying them and so have I! Just thought I’d let you know how much we have been enjoying it. Thank you so much again.

Erin’s homeschooling and literature knowledge is incredible, and she’s the first person I turn to with questions about books – she always has the perfect answer and saves me endless hours of research. She manages to make integrating books into learning easy and natural. After working with her for many years I’m still impressed by her professionalism and promptness.

FOUNDATION
The Foundation Year introduces children to gentle, literature-based learning through rich stories, nature exploration, and playful activities. Designed to build confidence and curiosity, it offers a flexible rhythm rooted in Australian Curriculum outcomes, perfect for creating a warm and meaningful start to your homeschool journey.

YEAR 1
Year 1 continues the journey with engaging Australian literature, early history and geography, and hands-on learning. It builds on foundational skills with a calm structure, supporting reading, narration, and exploration, all within a joyful, book-centred routine aligned with the Australian Curriculum.

YEAR 2
In Year 2, children deepen their understanding through living books, creative expression, and nature-based enquiry. With a gentle increase in expectations, the curriculum nurtures independent thinking and strengthens core skills, while staying flexible and aligned with the Australian Curriculum.

YEAR 3
Year 3 invites children into more structured study, with a focus on Australian history, natural science, and classic literature. Activities foster deeper reflection and growing independence, while still allowing room for curiosity and delight in the learning process.

YEAR 4
In Year 4, students explore broader themes through rich narratives, biographies, and geography. With a strong emphasis on critical thinking and connections across subjects, this year supports a thoughtful and integrated approach to home education, anchored in books, discussion, and meaningful work.

YEAR 5
Year 5 deepens academic engagement through challenging texts, historical inquiry, and applied skills in writing and research. The curriculum encourages independent work, guided reflection, and an increased sense of ownership and purpose in learning, while maintaining a balanced and literature-rich approach.

YEAR 6
In Year 6, students prepare for the transition into higher learning with mature literature, analytical thinking, and longer-form projects. This year brings together skills and knowledge gained in earlier years, fostering confidence, curiosity, and a strong foundation for lifelong learning.
